Blake Harrison – facilitator

November 2020, Blake arrived, with his music.

I come from a musical background having studied cello from age 3. I worked as a percussionist, touring and recording with bands and trained extensively with Community Music East becoming part of the core team and facilitating music workshops around East Anglia. I joined Children’s Services as a youth worker for several years running youth clubs and delivering detached youth work in the community connecting with vulnerable young people on the streets. I have also worked as an Associate Teacher for the Norfolk Music Service, engaged primarily as a World Music Tutor but also carried out significant amounts of Whole Class Ensemble Teaching and led on a number of workshops and projects.

My connection with nature has always been central to my life – since starting out with the Woodcraft Folk as a young boy. For 10 years now I have been working in registered children’s homes developing outdoor learning, creating spaces and facilitating for young people with very challenging lives, helping them to heal, grow and find solace in the natural world. All things fall away when you feel the heartbeat of the woods. We are all equal, safe and loved under the trees! I am very happy to be part of the Kinda team and to be able to develop my practice further.
