Compassionate Communities – Solstice 2021

December 18th

Dear Friends

The Pear Tree Fund and Kinda Education
invite you celebrate Solstice at
our Compassionate Communities /Solstice event

Saturday 18th December 2021
1.00pm to 3pm
at Kaliwood, Beccles Road, Holton, Ip19 8NQ

As part of our year long outreach for Compassionate Communities, you are all invited Solstice, as a follow up to our Samhain gathering (31 October) Where Samhain was the day of the dead, Samhain, when we remember our ancestors, solstice continues this conversation where we remember those we have lost while we prepare for the shortest day, along with the certainty of days lengthening, the turning of the wheel.

It is the time of year where the sun travels the shortest path through the sky, giving us the shortest day and longest night. Due to our 23 degree tilt, our Earth’s axis will be titled in such a way that the North Pole of Earth faces the furthest away from the sun.. We will have a demonstration of this tilt in action along with a tour of the Solar System, set up in Kaliwoods, with accompanying music, mythology and may be a visit from someone looking very like Sir Patrick Moore.

People will be invited to take part in a range of different activities, along the same lines as at Samhain, with a chance for compassionate conversations in the cosy hut.
