Working with inflatables in the seventies he toured festivals and adventure playgrounds around the country and in Europe. He has taught English to young Vietnamese boat people in rat infested warehouses and set up play-schemes in socially deprived areas of Manchester.
He has an M.A. in Mass Communications and is a fully qualified teacher having worked for ten years in an inner city comprehensive school in Brighton. He was a senior figure in the Hong Kong government working as broadcaster and manager of Radio Hong Kong and more recently ran his own artisan bakery and still likes to run bakery projects at festivals with his mobile wood fired oven.
