September 2021 to April 2022 (Elders Weaving in the Woods – Samhain to Equinox)
We were back, after a short break, back in the spring green woods.
We welcomed those with new eyes, who came here for the first time, who would see afresh. Jane, Rosaminde, Telfer and Alan Miller. For some it had been a touch time, but for all it seems, grateful to be back in the woods: Heaven on earth, one said, I could live here. The Green wood pecker was heard, that yaffling sound. And the Jackdaw flew out of the belly button high up an ash tree, just as we turned and looked.
Alan walked us slowly to the Hornbeam area, pointing out a yellow Brimstone, often seen very early in the year, a lovely sign of spring. The flowering Dog Mercury,
Glorious Chi Gong under the dappled light from the hornbeams.
We had a choice, then to make squares with Gabrielle – who herself had made 2 additional wood squares at Mens Shed; Bending adding to our bender with Rachel and Serena – who was reminded of her early bending with Barney Platts Mills; and making puppets with Nikky, who had made one earlier, a model of Meg! Working with her collection of magic buttons and lichen gifted by the wood, many made some fabulous characters ‘This was waiting to be done’ said Albert.
