The offering at Kinda Forest school is unique. We have a community of adults that centre our sessions around supporting each child to find their unique role within our community.  To nurture a sense of deep belonging to themselves, each other and nature. We offer a 4 hour and 15 minutes of child led adventures in the beautiful location of Kali woods. The children can also get involved in the rewilding of a 12 acre field next door.

We offer a vegetarian/vegan healthy breakfast, fire cooked lunch and afternoon snacks throughout the seasons. We eat as much seasonal and foraged food as we can. The menu varies from baked potatoes, spaghetti Bolognese, garlic bread or quesadilla, for example, with fresh salads and fruit always available. At lunch time the children eat at the banqueting table or, perhaps, in a newly created cafe in the woods. Very often, the children of the tribe will bake a cake to share with the tribe or bring cake in to celebrate a birthday.

The children are held, supported and encouraged to build resilience, friendships and community whilst they play, explore and learn holistically. Some of our children have been coming each week for five years, others are new to the tribe.

We have a very high staff ratio and each adult has a different role to play.

Hearth Keeper –  The guardian of the fire in the heart of our circle space, feeding and nurturing it in the same way that she feeds and nurtures our bodies with the delicious food that she cooks on the fire and prepares in our camp kitchen.

Play Catalysts – the guardians of play – their role is to observe the play cycles and interact where needed. Using tools, ropes, supporting value creation, showing ways to conflict resolution, supporting decision making, holding circles, playing music, climbing trees, crafting , foraging and so much more..
